Welcome to Bells Corners newest food truck, Bonita's Cantina, selling Mexican take-out from the Loblaws / Zellers parking lot at 2065 Robertson Road at the corner with Moodie Drive..
OK Tire at 2265 Robertson Road had its grand opening this past weekend. Paracel Laboratories (microbiology/asbestos laboratory & depot) recently moved into 25 Northside Road, Unit C. Both the old Bells Corners Shell location at 1930 Robertson Road and the old Pizza Hut location at 2006 Robertson Road appear to have been leased. A company operating under the name "Bells Corners Bar & Grill" has applied for a liquor licence for the old Pizza Hut location. Finally, construction at Golder & Associates at 1931 Robertson Road seems to be nearing an end.
The development at the site of the old Gow's Restaurant on 42 Northside Road at least has a new sign, perhaps the project also has new life. No update though on when the new drive-thru TD Bank will be completed. The East India Company Restaurant and Conference Centre is now expected to open in May of this year.
On the other hand the current Local Heroes location at 2015 Robertson Road has recently been listed for lease. Local Heroes had been expected to close for renovations. It looks like the closure could be permanent. Fitz’s Classic Grill BBQ Smoke House is also up for lease at 1876 Robertson Road. This location includes catering for events at the Best Western Plus hotel. The Viceroy Homes property at 2188 Robertson Road is also for sale.
Finally, the last weekend in May will see Carter Shows coming to Bells Corners for Family Funfair 2015 sponsored by the Bells Corners Business Improvement Area.
This week is National Wildlife Week and where better to enjoy it than in the forests and trails surrounding Bells Corners where you may encounter a wide diversity of urban wildlife. Squirrels, snowshoe hares, raccoons, skunks, chipmunks, groundhogs, beaver, coyotes, foxes and deer are all native inhabitants of the area. Take a walk on the wild side!
